Birthe Mousten Rasmussen - Project Controller
Birthe Rasmussen is a project controller at the Alexandra Institute, where she is responsible for all pervasive healthcare projects, among others. Her work includes budgetting, forecasting, accounting, and ensuring complicance with rules and regulations from grant providers. She has experience with EU and other publicly funded projects. Birthe has a master's in business economics. She has 12 years of experience from the Danish Tax and Customs Administration (SKAT), as well as 1.5 years experience as project controller at VIA University College.

Claus Bossen - Assistant Professor
Claus Bossen's main research areas are organizational change, computer supported cooperative work, medical informatics, and design methodologies. He conducts a long-term, ongoing fieldwork in a Danish university hospital with focus on organizational changes in connection with the construction and implementation of an electronic patient's record (EPR). This has included the study of a software firm developing parts of a new EPR, pilot-testing of an electronic medicine plan and its future implementation. Furthermore, he is involved in a research project on mobile and pervasive computing for healthcare which has the aim of taking up the challenges arising when the present paper-based record system is replaced by an electronic system. He is furthermore involved in developing methodologies for the design of IT systems. Claus Bossen is presently employed at the Department of Information and Media Science, University of Aarhus, Denmark. He holds a PhD in Anthropology (1999) and BA in History of Ideas. Erik Grönvall - Postdoc
Erik is a project manager in a consortium (academia and industry) investigating User-driven Healthcare Innovation with a focus on home care. Current multi-disciplinary projects that he coordinates relate to elderly and game play, vestibular rehabilitation (dizziness), the coordination of care, and infrastructures for distributed and home-based healthcare scenarios. Current research interests can be found in the borderline where technology and the users meet and include issues like end-user control, interaction design, construction/deconstruction, graceful degradation and inspection strategies in ubiquitous computing and pervasive healthcare. Erik has a profound interest in work related to healthcare and those specific challenges that might occur when implementing IT support in a delicate healthcare environment, e.g. when using Participatory Design. Furthermore, research interests include Home/Personal Fabrication and Physical Computing. Apart from his research activities, Erik teaches physical computing courses at the university.

Gunnar Kramp - Architect and Industrial Designer
Gunnar Kramp’s main focus of interest is in user driven design of – and interaction with - products and environments embedded with information and communication technologies. He has a PhD in Industrial Design and ICT technology and is currently working with the project "Handicap - a knowledge resource for developing better aids, in the Village of Sølund". Gunnar also holds a position as assistant professor at the Aarhus School of Architecture.

Ida Rasmussen - Network coordinator

Ida Rasmussen has been employed at the Alexandra Institute’s Copenhagen office since 2008. She holds a position as network coordinator and work for InfinIT – network for innovative utilisation of ICT. The purpose of the network is to build a bridge between academia and industry in the field of embedded systems, mobile technology, pervasive technologies and the Internet of the Future.

Ida holds an international Master’s Degree in user-centred design (IT Product Design) from the University of Southern Denmark specialised in cross-disciplinary project work.

Jacob Andersen - Research and Innovation Specialist
Jacob Andersen is investigating how to use wireless sensor networks of biomedical sensors in hospital, home care and trauma/emergency situations. The research revolves around developing a common software architecture which will support among other things: Extremely simple use and setup (Life critical use means no time to fight the equipment), security and data confidentiality, scalability (imagine several sensors on each victim of a major train accident assembled in a small triage area) and integration of sensor data and control with EPR systems and other IT-systems used in hospitals.

Lea Gulstav Dalgaard - Anthropologist/Research & Innovation specialist
Lea holds a Master’s degree in anthropology from Aarhus University, where she has specialized in health - and welfare anthropology. She has worked with public health, health promotion policies and practices in healthcare. Lea is engaged in a number of projects at Centre for Pervasive Healthcare, at the moment primarily: Mobile access for healthcare professionals, Panasonic Robotic Bed, Knowledge Bank for DemensCentrum Aarhus, Tele/Skejby. In interdisciplinary collaboration in user-driven innovation processes she contributes with field studies, participant observations, interviews, workshops, analysing data, report writing and writing scientific papers.

Lisa Wells - R&D Scientist
Lisa Wells is an R&D Scientist at the Alexandra Institute, where she is involved in the administration of Caretech Innovation and its projects. Her work includes developing and documenting administrative processes, management of project resources (budget, staffing), reporting to grant providers, maintaining web sites, and assisting in the implementation of strategic plans. Lisa received a PhD in computer science from the Aarhus University, Denmark in 2002. She also holds an AB in mathematics from Bryn Mawr College, PA, USA. Her main research areas were performance analysis, model-based analysis of computer and communication systems, and simulation languages and tools.

Lone Faber - Center Manager & area manager of Pervasive Healthcare
Lone has a MSc in Computer Science and a background in the IT industry, where she has always been triggered by the practical usage of ICT. She joined the Alexandra Institute after 7 years in Logica, primarily spent in managerial positions in the team who shaped and grew Logica’s Danish healthcare business. In addition to general management at CfPH and Alexandra, Lone is currently pursuing new opportunities for commercial activities and other forms of collaborations with external parties.

Louise Mejnertz - Ethnographer/Anthropologist, Research Assistant
Louise Mejnertz holds an MA in anthropology and is specializing in health/medical anthropology. She has previously worked in a quality department in a Danish hospital, where her primary areas of responsibility were patient experienced quality, user involvement and patient safety. Louise is engaged in a number of projects at Centre for Pervasive Healthcare, at the moment primarily: HemoLab@Home and Flex-control. Louise's main activities are field studies, development of new methods, and workshops. Her research interests are self-care, home-care, use of technology and impact on organization and patient/relative/hospital when introducing technology and increasing home-care.

Marlene Nybro Thomsen - Communicator
Marlene Nybro Thomsen holds a BA in Political Science and an MA in ICT and communication from Aarhus University. Since her graduation in 2004, she has been a member of the Communication Department at The Alexandra Institute. Since 2009 she has also been responsible for the communication at Department of Computer Science, Aarhus University. Her main focus areas are communication and dissemination. She has been involved in The EU project “PalCom” and the @aGlance project about overview at larger events. Currently she is engaged in dissemination of Caretech Innovation activities and other projects within the Centre for Pervasive Healthcare. Marlene Thomsen focuses on both internal/external knowledge sharing and more traditional public relations.

Morten Kyng - Professor, Head of Research & Head of Centre
Morten Kyng's main research areas are participatory design, computer supported cooperative work, pervasive computing, and human-computer interaction. His main focus is currently participatory design of new paradigms for 'palpable' pervasive computing systems within healthcare. That is pervasive systems that are capable of being noticed and that the users may investigate and apprehend mentally. Morten Kyng is professor of pervasive computing at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Aarhus. The professorship is sponsored for a five-year-period by Systematic Software Engineering - www.systematic.dk. Morten received his Doctor of Science from the University of Aarhus in 1996. He currently directs the Centre for Pervasive Computing - www.pervasive.dk, a national research centre with headquarters at Katrinebjerg in Aarhus. In 2001 he was, as the only European, appointed to the ACM CHI Academy for leadership in the field of computer-human interaction.

Nervo Verdezoto - PhD Student
Nervo is a PhD Student in the Use, Design and Innovation Group at Aarhus University. Current research interests are focusing in the intersection point between Ubiquitous Computing and Human Computer Interaction with particular interest on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare Management. In connection with the Lev Vel Consortium (academia and industry), he has participated in two of three central innovation projects for senior adults: Preventive self-monitoring and Add Ons to the Shared-Medication Card. He is investigating how to empower senior adults in their own health care management at home. His research revolves around developing personal healthcare applications for senior adults. He holds a M.Sc. in Human Language Technology and Interfaces from University of Trento, Italy in 2010. Furthermore, research interests include Assistive Technologies and Information Visualization for Personal Health Systems. Apart from his research activities, Nervo has been Teaching Assistant for the following courses at AU: Web Technology, Operating Systems and Pervasive Computing.

Sara Ølholm Eaton - Research group coordinator
Sara Ølholm holds an MA in Political Science and History from Aarhus University and is the coordinator of the Pervasive Healthcare group. She works in the administration of the Centre for Pervasive Healthcare and organizes conferences, summer schools and workshops. Other areas are web, meeting preparations, guests and budget follow-ups.

Sarah Maria Rasch – MA-student in Anthropology and Ethnography
Sarah Maria is a MA-student in Innovation, Organisation and Work Anthropology at Aarhus University. She has been involved in a number of projects at the Centre for Pervasive Healthcare since 2011: Personal Interactive Homepage, Cross-sectorial Communication and TeleSkejby. Sarah Marias main activities as a student worker are transcription of interviews, planning and conducting interviews, and ethnographic field studies.

Simon B. Larsen - Senior R&D Scientist
Simon B. Larsen is an engineer with specialisation in medical informatics, and he received his PhD in pervasive healthcare in 2006 at the Department of Computer Science, Aarhus University. His research interests within pervasive healthcare include telemedicine, CSCW, software architecture, and user driven innovation. He is involved in several CfPH projects and is project leader for the project “SundInnovation”.

Surayya Urazimbetova - PhD Student
Surayya’s mission is to make healthcare IT systems efficient, reliable and usable. Her primary research focus is software architectures of pervasive healthcare systems. In connection with the AkutFlow project, she focused on the integration of push-based software architecture. Besides her experience within computer science she has worked as nurse and healthcare assistant in hospitals and elderly homes. She wants to use her experiences from both fields to improve the resource consumption of healthcare institutions with help of emerging pervasive and embedded systems.

Susanne Brøndberg - Coordinator
Susanne Brøndberg holds a BA in Languages and Communication from the Aarhus School of Business. She works in the administration of the Alexandra Institute which among others include the Caretech Innovation projects. Her work includes production of web pages, layout of newsletters, leaflets, posters etc., translation and assistance in connection with preparation of workshops, meetings, booking of journeys etc.

Susanne Wollsen - Anthropologist, Research & innovation specialist
Susanne holds a Master’s degree in anthropology from Aarhus University, where she has specialized in health and welfare anthropology. She has worked on projects in the Pervasive Healthcare Lab since 2008 where she undertakes user studies in various projects. She finds it exciting to work with the anthropological methods in user-driven innovation processes. Her work includes observations and interviews and as well as support for planning and organisation of workshops with focus on user behavior and needs for new technology. Susanne is generally interested in users’ diverse needs for and experiences with technology and she sees an extensive job in assembling these into a single technological solution. Susanne finds the interdisciplinary and close collaboration with computer scientists, engineers, business developers and other subject areas very conducive in this respect.

Thomas Hohn - Senior R&D Scientist
Thomas is a Senior R&D Scientist at the Alexandra Institute, Denmark, where he participates in research and software development projects. Thomas is a M.Sc. in computer science and received his Master's degree in 1999 in the field of object oriented databases from Aarhus University. His primary interests lies in the fields of: software development; methods in the field of software development – especially the SCRUM method and the agile manifest; project and technical project management. Thomas manages and participates in the Caretech Innovation Portfolio, where he works with project management and the screening of potential Caretech projects.
